> How to bring out the best in my team?
> How to handle leadership pressure without getting over-stressed?
How I overcame these challenges?
1. TO BRING OUT THE BEST IN MY TEAM:
-I put continuous efforts to make the new members feel comfortable, included, & welcomed.
-I allow them to fail & make errors. It helps them take risks and be innovative.
-I trust every team member to manage their time & work instead of micromanaging them. It slowly builds a sense of autonomy in them.
-I give timely appreciation instead of waiting for the appraisal month.
-I showcase Leadership fragility occasionally. It increases trust &
bonding between them and me.
2. TO HANDLE LEADERSHIP PRESSURE:
-Serving as a leader is no breeze but I keep reminding myself to pause and breathe.
-I avoid setting unrealistic expectations because they make me feel like you are doing less than I can. Hence, I keep my expectations real and achievable.
-I try to keep things simple by focusing on the objectives at hand instead of planning for a decade in advance.
-Instead of stressing about thinking ‘oh my team is watching’, I look at it as ‘oh good my team is watching’ which divides my stress instead of multiplying it.
-I explored many stress busters and found out that long drives really help me unwind. So, I go for a drive to find a fresh perspective and get on the track again.
A PRO TIP
Leadership without overstressing is a 'learning by doing' quality. It will take some time but will come to you if you hang in there.
